BIOGRAPHY

Alan Schulman is a NYC/NJ area Jazz Guitarist.  He leads his own Trio as well as appearing most frequently in the Duo  ASIS with jazz vocalist and spouse Stacey Schulman.  

 

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Schulman studied with the late great jazz guitarist Cal Collins, as well as such noted  players and teachers as Tom Carroll, Kenny Poole, David Bloom and Jack Wilkins. During his 30+ years as a sideman, he has appeared with such noted jazz artists as Anita Baker, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Fortune and Michael Feinstein.  In addition, he has had the privelege of performing in jazz guitar duos with such greats as the late Herb Ellis, Joe Pass, Jim Hall, Tommy Tedesco, Howard Roberts, and Barney Kessel. He has also recently  studied with more contemporary jazz guitar greats Pat Metheny and Lee Ritenour.

 

Schulman frequently records and performs with his wife Stacey Lynn Schulman - an elegant vocalist and performer in her own right - in their Duo ASIS.

 

He holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Arranging & Composition from Howard University in Washington, DC.
